Dale SmithPastor/Teaching Elder
Dale Smith was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and spent the majority of his childhood in the wonderful town of Willington, Connecticut. At 16, he was invited by a neighbor to attend a special revival service at Baptist Fellowship of Columbia, Connecticut. While listening to the preacher (Fred Doerge), Dale was convinced of God’s righteousness and his own sinfulness. He subsequently responded to the Gospel with repentance and faith. Shortly after graduating high school, Dale felt called to preach and responded by leaving the Northeast to attend Southwest Baptist University (SBU, Bolivar, MO).
Since that time, Dale’s journey has included attending several different institutions of higher learning. He has also been blessed to serve a variety of churches (both Baptist and Nondenominational). Whether he is discussing theology in the classroom setting or talking about the Lord Jesus with a local church member, he acknowledges that both circumstances have left a deep impact on him. Dale is married to Teresa Smith. They have one son, Andrew Smith. Dale is a recent graduate of UMKC with a Ph.D. in Religious Studies and History (2017). He also holds degrees from Yale, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and SBU—America’s Premiere Baptist University.
The excitement that Dale and his family feel at having been called to serve the Lord with the wonderful believers of The Road almost defy expression. He (and they) are eager to see how God will glorify himself and grow this body in the years to come. Come and join them at The Road!
Dale’s hobbies include: reading 17th century Puritan literature, collecting vintage saltwater lures of New England Manufacture (1945-1965), collecting Victorian ephemera pertaining to Charles Spurgeon, and analysis of comedic styles from Mort Sahl to Jim Gaffigan.
