“You must distinguish between delays and denials.”
Thomas Brooks
God loves to answer prayer. His people know full well that the Lord God answers prayer and delights to be asked. We pray, as individuals and as a church, because the Scriptures are filled with promises and examples designed to encourage his people to ask him. The Lord Jesus pursued a life of prayer and his intercessory prayer found in John 17 has moved generations of believers to pray. His model prayer found in Matthew 6 has formed an outline of prayer that has instructed both children and adults. His retreating away from crowds for the purpose of prayer (see Luke 6 and Mark 1) has served to call his church away from the hustle and bustle to engage in prayer as the Master did. This November, we have an opportunity to focus, as individuals and corporately, on Psalm 51 and to let it shape our prayer life. During the month, we will have a sermon (or two) on that psalm and we will also come together to prayer through some of its verses and to ask the Lord to shape us through prayer and his word. If you have not signed up for a day or two in the season of prayer, please see Jacob this Sunday after church and sign up for a day or two. On the table will be a half sheet of paper with our special points of focus for November. (See below for the same material.) The night before the day you signed up, I will send you a text as a reminder. Thank you for praying! Have a blessed week and we will see many of you on Sunday.
Love in Christ,
Pastor Dale
Psalm 51 November 2026 Season of Prayer
Throughout the month, but particularly on the day/s you signed up, please focus on and pray for the following:
- That the Lord would send our church family into a season of extended renewal which would be characterized by a deeper understanding of sin and repentance (51:2-5), a restoration of joy and a willing spirit (51:10-12), and a commitment to discipleship. (51:13-14)
- That the Lord would guide the elders in the setting of the budget and the congregation in approving it and accomplishing its ministry priorities.
- That the Lord would expand and strengthen our outreach into the subdivisions immediately around the church building and into all of Grain Valley and especially the neighborhoods where our members reside.
- That the Lord would _______________________________ (please write in an area of personal concern).
