“What you win them with, is what you win them to.”
Last Sunday was a special Sunday. Three baptisms, two sermons, and one great dinner! After the service, I had an opportunity to speak to several folks about the service. What made it meaningful for them? The answers varied: the reading of the testimonies, the pronouncement of the blessings, the gathering around the Ackmanns for prayer. All those things did make the service a special occasion and what stands at the heart of them? The Gospel. God’s incredible love demonstrated for us through the gift of his one and only son. The Gospel, the old acrostic still stands, God’s Only Son Provides Eternal Life. And while most of us are deeply familiar with an outline of the good news, we are going to take the next three weeks, during adult Sunday School, to review and sketch out the gospel. Why do this? One of the reasons is to strengthen our understanding of the gospel as we prepare ourselves to be more active and bold in sharing it with others.
To this end, Darin Schroeder will be leading us through a thin booklet by Paul Washer which focuses on what the Bible teaches about the good news. These booklets have already been passed out but if you did not get a copy, we have one for you. It’s free. Please see Darin or Pastor Dale about receiving a copy of this material and please join Darin this Sunday at 9:30 AM. And one other thing, please keep the elders in prayer as we make our way through the transition of not having Pastor Charles here on a daily basis. Please note that the church office will be closed now on Mondays. Have a blessed week and we will see many of you on Sunday.
Love in Christ,
Pastor Dale
