“Attempt great things for God; expect great things from God.”
–William Carey
The title of this week’s journal comes from a message delivered by Jeremy Conrad. He is a pastor who serves one of the churches in the Calvary Family of Churches. The Calvary Family Church in Denver has experienced an amazing decade of ministry. They have not only experienced growth themselves but have helped to plant, re-plant, or revitalize thirty churches during a ten-year period. Pastor Conrad presented seven key points during his talk at the recent semi-annual meeting of the Blue-River Kansas City Baptist Association. One of his seven points was an emphasis on the goal of fruitfulness rather than bigness. This emphasis left me deeply encouraged.
The Road is being called to make disciples and multiply churches. We want to bless individuals by helping them grow in Christ and when that number of individuals reaches critical mass then we want to see a new church planted. Please pray for the elders as they refine the vision that the Lord has for our body. These are exciting times and we want to keep in step with the Spirit of the Lord. I read once that, in general, people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can accomplish in five years. Let’s seek the Lord together for a ten-year vision. Thank you for praying for me, for the staff, and for all members of The Road.
See most of you on Sunday. D. V.
Love in Christ,
Pastor Dale
