“A mighty piece of weaponry in the battle of prayer is God’s promise.”
Charles H. Spurgeon
Last night (Wednesday night, July 2nd), some of the members of The Road went on a prayerwalk. What is a prayer walk? One author defines it as “praying on-site with insight.” To summarize further, prayer walking is a specific time of seeking the presence and blessings of God in the midst of the very setting where we would like to see the Lord move. It is an act of intercession in the very location where the believers hope to see the Lord answer. For the believers of The Road, we prayed right in the facility and we moved from room to room and petitioned the Lord about the persons and activities that would occur in that particular room. We did not walk very much. It could well have been called prayerstanding, but the important thing is that prayer was occurring. The apostle Paul gives Timothy the following instructions concerning prayer:
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. (1 Timothy 2:6 ESV)
Our Wednesday night schedule will include, on occasion, a time for prayerwalking. The plan is to travel to certain sections of Grain Valley and to intercede for those in that area. This includes places where the local government assembles, schools (Grain Valley North Middle School), subdivisions (Rosewood Hills, etc.), and locations where we can lift up our first responders (GV Police Department, etc.). As we blanket our area in prayer, we should expect to see the Lord move in some powerful ways. Stay tuned, next week we will cover more about prayerwalking and some of its themes. Have a blessed week and we will see many of you on Sunday.
Unto Him be glory,
Pastor Dale
