FAITH UNDER TRIAL, (pt. 1)

FAITH UNDER TRIAL, (pt. 1)
TEST TIME

Sermon notes, 1-22-17

“And after these things God tested Abraham…” Genesis 22:1a

When TEST TIME comes in your life experience, remember:

1. Trials are numerous—you are either in one now, just coming out of one now, or about to enter one now, or maybe all three! Trial-free living is not real.
2. Trials are used by God to our spiritual benefit. James 1:2-4. We won’t become the spiritual person God intends without trials to help shape Christ in us. So rejoice in trial!
3. Trials should not come as a surprise. 1 Peter 4:12-14 Jesus had them, so will we.
4. Trials seem unreasonable. Our first thought when trial comes is, “Why,” and soon after, “Why me?” Avoid the temptation to try to reason your way through trials in life. We best meet trials when we meet them with faith in God. Such faith comes from “hearing,” God. We live on promises, not explanations!
5. Trials are inevitable—no one is exempt. We don’t have them because we’ve done something wrong that deserves them. They are part of living in a sin tainted world. God wants to use them as means of grace and maturing in His people. Parents, don’t think your children will or even may live trial free. Rather, prepare your children to respond biblically to trials.
6. Trials are inescapable—accept them, trust God’s promises, and He will bring you through every trial victoriously.
7. Trials are temporary—God isn’t!

Focus yourself on what you’ve heard God say and believe Him regardless of appearances, unreasonableness, or difficulty, and suffering. Faith is the victory. God’s got this, believe Him!

“Faith is the victory.” 1 John 5:4
