TOTAL TRIUMPH, pt. 3

*FAITH UNTO TRIUMPH*

You will never go wrong trusting God. He totally triumphs! Trusting God looks like this:
1. Hearing His Word.
2. Believing His Word is true regardless of how things appear.
3. Responding to His Word accordingly to hearing and believing. (This will always take the shape of obedience in some form or other, i.e., action, patient waiting, etc.)

“Trusting God,” never looks like asking him for what we want, or expecting Him to do what seems right to us and then proceeding along as if He is supposed to do that.

Scripture references: Genesis 22:1-19; I John 5:4; Hebrews 11:17-19
John 8:56; 1:29

As we conclude our series on Abraham’s offering of Isaac for sacrifice, we see how “Faith Under Trial,” works and how “Faith Upon Truth,” grows. Today we see “Faith Unto Triumph.” We will never go wrong trusting God. He totally triumphs.

I. Triumphant Living
A. Abraham and Isaac experienced triumphant living by trusting God.
B. Abraham didn’t have to kill Isaac (thought we could say he had sacrificed Isaac in his heart).
C. Isaac didn’t get killed.
What was Abraham thinking as he proceeded to obey the Lord’s command to sacrifice his beloved son Isaac? He was thinking, no he was *certain*, that he was about to see God do a miracle! Hebrews 11:19 tells us that, He considered (figured, reckoned, or accounted) that God was able to raise him from the dead.” That’s what he was thinking. God’s going to do a miracle! That’s triumphant living.

II. Living Triumph
A. There is more to this story!
B. The whole thing foreshadows the coming time when God would take his Son, the Son whom he loved, his only son, Jesus and offer him as a sacrifice. He would become the substitute for us, just as the ram had been for Isaac. He would bear all of our sins and guilt on Calvary, just as Isaac bore the wood for the fire for the sacrifice.
C. Guess what? God did a miracle—He raised him from the dead, just as Abraham had considered!
Now we have not only triumphant living, but we have everlasting, never-dying living triumph!

Trials are where we grow with God.
Truth is the foundation for our faith.
Triumph is our destiny!
